ADRA operation in Blue Nile started in 2008 with a school-feeding program that benefited 9,000 children in 28 primary schools. Other beneficiaries include teachers, cooks, labour for the waddi and latrine construction. This project was supported by the Canadian Food Grain Bank (CFGB)/Mennonite Central Committee (MCC). ADRA also implemented food security and livelihood activities with support from FAO, UNCHF, OFDA and WASH activities supported by ECHO and DANIDA.
Blue Nile State is currently ADRA Sudan’s largest operation, with an education and school feeding project funded by Canadian Foodgrains Bank, two WASH projects funded by DANIDA and a food security and livelihood project funded by OFDA.
